Hello, I was wondering where the discussion forum was, if we have any questions about the lessons. I had a question about Week 5, Lecon 2. In Section C- Clothes, you have "Les chaussures," for shoes, but for sunglasses and boots you use the article "Des." Why is that? I'm assuming "Des" means some, but I can't say "Des chaussures" or "Les lunettes de soleil" if I want to? That was really my only confusion here.
Bonjour Skigirl! You're correct. It's a typo. It should be DES chaussures for "shoes" as it is an indefinite article. DES can be translated as "some", and in the case of DES chaussures, we will use DES simply because we are not thinking specifically of a particular kind of shoes. "some (random) shoes", ANY shoes. But we'll say for example, "Les chaussures noires d'Herman" (Herman's black shoes), more specific, not random. Hope that helps. And thanks for mentioning the typo you've discovered.
