INTRODUCTION

This section covers the words and vocabulary used to describe various types of drinks in French.

From its flagship bottled mineral water brand Evian to its huge variety of tasty wines, France is a country well known in the world for its drinks.

The French take their drinks very seriously. A glass of red wine is almost always at hands reach during meals, and let's not forget the special treatment Evian receives from its bottling process (intricate bottle designs by famous fashion designer, and sometimes in limited editions only please) to its remarkable distribution network (yes, you can enjoy your hamburger with some Evian at French McDonalds!!). Now that's what I call setting yourself apart!

Check out the following word list of French beverages and find out if you know any of them.

Perhaps a nice addition to this French drinks vocabulary list would be the main wine regions of France. Here they are:

  • Alsace
  • Beaujolais
  • Bordeaux
  • Bourgogne
  • Champagne
  • Corse
  • Côtes du Rhône
  • Languedoc-Roussillon
  • Loire
  • Provence
  • Sud-Ouest

This French drink vocabulary list is by no means complete, but it should be sufficient to get you by in most situations, whether you are getting a drink at a bar, coffee shop or at a supermarket. In any case, you can always content if you feel that I've overlooked an important drink word in French. :-)
