In this lesson (part 1), let's learn a few French small talk phrases.
At first view, these may seem like random sentences, but you will quickly notice that these are exactly the kind of statements (compliments, asking for someone's opinion) that get to be made to break and awkward silence. I am not big on small talk, but I can see how the following can be helpful.

Very good! (said about tasty food)

7. Bah, je sais pas.
Well, I don't know (casual).
8. Attendez, j'ai une idée.
Hold on, I have an idea.
9. êtes-vous libre ce soir?
Are you free tonight?
10. Ça ne me plaît pas beaucoup.
I don't like it very much.
11. Ton copain est vraiment cool.
Your friend is really cool.
