What's a *complex sentence*?

phrase complexe (complex sentence) is one that contains a main clause and one or more subordinate clauses.

For example, "Je parle maintenant à une dame qui me demande si je connais un certain Bertrand." (I'm talking now with a lady who is asking me if I know a certain Bertrand.) --> The bolded part is the main clause, while the underlined parts are the subordinate clauses.
