What's a *demonstrative adjective*?

A demonstrative adjective (un adjectif démonstratif) is a type of adjective used to point out / to show a particular thing or things.

While English demonstrative adjectives (this/that/these/those)

For example:

"Tu vois cet oiseau là-haut?" (You see that bird up there?)

"Je n'aime pas ce mec"  (I don't like this guy")

The forms of French the demonstrative adjectives are affected by the gender and number of the noun they are attached to. They are also affected by the presence of a vowel starting a masculine noun.
