Noun complement – complément du nom
Let's Define It!
What's a *noun complement*?
A noun complement (un complément du nom) is basically a noun modifying another noun. In some cases, it could be a verb too (see the example section)
The function of this noun complement is to provide information about the main noun (called in French nom noyau). The noun complement is attached to the main noun with a preposition.
For example, la voiture de papa (daddy's car). la voiture is the main noun in this noun phrase. And papa is the noun complement telling us who owns this car. Both noun are attached with the preposition de.
