Let's Define It!
What's the *present indicative*?
The present indicative (in French: le présent de l'indicatif) is equivalent to the English present tense.
The French present indicative can take these three meanings in English:

For example, "La terre est ronde." The earth is round.
4) You can use the présent de l'indicatif to talk about actions happening almost immediately.

You can use the présent de l'indicatif in conditional clauses (si + present -->)
For example, "Fais tes devoirs si tu veux sortir avec tes copains". Do your homework if you want to go out with your friends.
You can use the présent de l'indicatif in the passé composé. The auxiliary is conjugated in the present and followed by the past participle.
