Superlative – superlatif

Let's Define It!

What's the *superlative*?

The superlative (le superlatif) is the form of an adjective or an adverb that shows that the quality being described is of the highest degree within a group.

For example, Ronaldo est le meilleur joueur du monde. / Ronaldo is best player in the world.

The superlative form of the adjective bon is meilleur. {bon} has an irregular superlative form in French just like in English. You won't say the "goodest", but the "best".
